This week Suzi, Ixaras and Eaglemont (solo) are stopping by for a special school hols all ages edition of Social Sanctuary!

Melbourne via Mornington Peninsula storyteller Suzi spins aching vulnerability into indie rock gold. In her first studio EP I Hope You Can Hear Me Now Suzi reclaims her voice and affirms her turn from folk singer to a commanding band leader, her poignant and evocative lyrics now underpinned by dazzling riffs and sharp rhythm sections. Spending her youth playing shows to small rooms on the Peninsula, Suzi found a home online, posting TikTok videos to what is now almost 30,000 followers, and creating what would become her self-recorded first EP I Like It Better Indoors. Recorded in her bedroom mid-pandemic the earnestness of this first EP shone through to audiences, a melodic tug of the heartstrings heard across the country.

Raised in Meanjin, Brisbane, Ixara is a 17 year old Indie/ Pop/Rock queer artist who is the embodiment of self-expression and youth today. In the last 2 years, she has turned herself from an underground, DIY Brisbane staple, to an artist gaining huge national attention, running her own all ages, sold-out headline shows through her company ‘Anti Dismal' and producing - 'charismatic indie pop with flair and stamina' -Triple J - in her friends' bedrooms. In the first half of this year, Ixara has continued to build on her breakout 2023. This is with multiple sold out headline shows including a 350 cap single launch, a 2024 QMA nomination, announced as a key artist at SXSW Sydney this year alongside a panel at AIR Indie Con, an ABC Docuseries feature with Myf Warhurst, her first headline festival slot at Gympie 'Outer Space', supports for Skegss, Tyne James Organ, Grinspoon and helped launch Coke Studios in Sydney alongside Tones and I. Now two releases in this year, Ixara continues to build a dedicated fanbase and has seen over 5.5K new followers (24K total) and +1.5M views across her socials, with her discography sitting on 420K+ streams. Now the rest of her 2024 taken up with the release of her EP, prestigious festival and support slots and her debut interstate headline shows, proving Ixara to be one of the most exciting acts coming through today.

Eaglemont, the jangle rock project of Melbourne’s Bridg Jessop, is on the precipice of something huge. After launching the project in 2018, Eaglemont has quickly made a name for herself in the Australian music scene, demonstrating an impressive ability to combine clever wit and genuine heart within her lyrics, encased within a perfectly cool, distortion-heavy sound. In 2019 Eaglemont released Heteronormative Nightmare, a thoughtful and vulnerable track wrapped up in her signature high-energy, jangly vibe. The song is a bit of a red herring – while embracing a tongue-in-cheek approach, Eaglemont’s idiosyncratic vocal delivery hints at the raw nature of the song’s theme; having a sudden understanding of your sexuality as a teenager. Eaglemont has spent the last year in the studio, putting the final touches on her debut album Party Boy, released in 2024. Produced by Jonathon Tooke (Cry Club) and mixed by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), this album is a massive step forward for the project on all fronts. Eaglemont lays themselves bare across all twelve tracks on Party Boy. Every emotion is wrung out and explored in great detail; tiny, everyday moments shared within relationships or experienced completely alone are pulled apart throughout the record, demonstrating incredible growth and development from Eaglemont, an artist who already had a particularly incisive streak. Having supported the likes of Ceres, Bec Sandridge, Alex Lahey and Luca Brasi on tour around the country, Eaglemont’s live show is a perfect opportunity to see these songs take flight. With the upcoming release of Party Boy, Eaglemont will take to the stage once again, endearing audiences with her honesty and irresistible charm.
