Cygnet Cello Solstice Concert

Warm your bones on the darkest day of the year with chai, mulled wine and the sound of 12 cellos filling the Cygnet Town Hall, featuring the music of Greig, Faure, Strauss and more.

Surrounded by beautiful candlelight, this Winter concert experience will be peppered with special surprises and guest appearances to celebrate and honour the Earth as we reach our maximum tilt way from the light of the sun.

The Cygnet Cello Choir is a local group of female cellists of all ages and levels of experience, founded and directed by Georgia Shine. Georgia brings an interdisciplinary approach to the group and creatively infuses the process of learning with the Alexander Technique, dance and other creative tools designed to bring us into connection with the music from a place of wholeness and celebration. The Cygnet Cello Choir looks forward to inviting you to be a part of the magic by sharing this exquisite music with you!

Winter is a time of hibernation for many plants and animals. Energy moves away from the extremities and into the core. Sap moves down the trunks of trees into the roots in the soil, where seeds lie dormant; gestating. Winter is associated with death in many cultures, and is a vital time to let go of what is ready to be composted for the new life of Spring.

If you would like to participate in creating a shared experience of ritual at this Winter Solstice event, please feel free to bring an object that represents this process of death, hibernation and gestation to place on our installation. What seeds are you planting into the darkness that may enjoy the future light of Spring?

Doors open at 5:30pm for a 6pm start

Please enjoy food and drinks from the bar and mingle with fellow music-lovers.
