Parliament House High Tea- Afternoon Session

Queensland Parliament is proud to offer a new High Tea experience in the Strangers' Dining Room starting in 2020. 


Enjoy a selection of delicacies prepared by the Parliament's resident chefs while taking in the beauty of Queensland's premier heritage building. With live music now at every session.

Traditional tickets include our signature high tea treats, unlimited tea and coffee plus an optional tour of Parliament House and the O’Donovan Library.


Upgrade options


Sparkling High Tea includes:


A glass of sparkling wine, signature high tea treats, unlimited tea and coffee plus an optional tour of Parliament House and the O’Donovan Library.


French High Tea includes:


A glass of authentic French champagne, signature high tea treats, unlimited tea and coffee plus an optional tour of Parliament House and the O’Donovan Library.


Children's tickets are also available for kids aged 5-12. Items will be as per traditional high tea however at a reduced costing. 


Following High Tea you are welcome to join our Parliamentary Attendants for a complimentary tour of Parliament House (optional). 


FAQs


What do I need to bring with me?


Parliament House, Queensland is a working parliament and as such has strict security rules. All attendees must provide Government issued photo ID upon entry. 


What time should I arrive?


Please arrive at approximately 1:45pm to allow time for security processing before High Tea service commences at 2:00pm.


Do I need to book the tour of Parliament House?


No, you do not need to make a separate booking for the tour of Parliament House.


What do I do if I want to go on the tour?


High Tea service commences at 2:00pm and concludes at 3:30pm, with the optional tour of Parliament House commencing at 3:30pm for approximately 30-45 minutes. The Parliamentary Attendants will collect all guests from the Strangers' Dining Room at 3:30pm and escort them back to the Parliamentary Annexe main entrance. Those who wish to go on the tour will be guided from the main entrance, and those who wish to leave the Precinct can do so at this time.


How do I find the Strangers’ Dining Room?


High Tea guests must enter the Parliamentary Precinct via the Parliamentary Annexe, located on Alice St. For security reasons, guests are not permitted to leave the Annexe foyer area without an escort. A member of staff will collect High Tea guests from the foyer of the Parliamentary Annexe and escort them to the Strangers’ Dining Room.


What are my parking options during the event?


Guests arriving by car must make their own parking arrangements, as there is no visitor parking available at Queensland Parliament House. The closest paid parking facilities are located next door at QUT. 


What is the refund policy?


We are more than happy to refund purchased tickets until 7 days prior to the event. Guests who wish to cancel their ticket after this time can transfer their paid seat to another available High Tea date at no extra cost until the day prior. No refunds or transfers are available within 48 hours.


What is the dress code?


The dress code for High Tea is smart casual. 


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?


No, your ticket is not needed as guest names and contact details must be submitted during the ticket purchase process. These names will be included on our attendee list and checked against your photo ID when you arrive.
