Bizet's Carmen - Opera Australia
Exclusive 2020 Members' only buying period from Thursday 30 January - 13 February 2020.
Glasshouse Port Macquarie and Rydges Port Macquarie presents Bizet's CARMEN.
Join us for Opera Australia’s 25th Anniversary Tour for Bizet’s Carmen!
Carmen is everything opera should be... high drama, passionate characters, a love story - with some of the greatest opera tunes of all time.
Caught between her desire for love and a longing for freedom, Carmen faces an impossible choice. Carmen is enigmatic and elusive: a femme fatale you can’t forget. She captivates Don José with her sensual Habanera and he abandons everything to possess her.
But Carmen won’t be owned and finds herself a new lover: the dashing bullfighter Escamillo. Don José’s jealousy is untameable, Escamillo’s appeal is strong, and in a gripping finale, Carmen is destined to fight for her life.
Australia’s finest opera singers will assemble with a live chamber orchestra and a local children’s chorus in an memorable evening of exquisite music.
