22 March: Three's Company. Three colours: voice, winds & keyboard, with Narelle Yeo (soprano), Deborah de Graaf (clarinet) & Galston favourite Tonya Lemoh (piano) in a program to feature Schubert's beloved Shepherd on the Rock plus music of Hungary, Poland & Spain. Cameos by artistic directors violist Robert Harris (for a Beethoven birhday trio) & Dorit Herskovits (for cabaret songs) add string colours to Classical & crossover stylistic contrasts.
24 May: Cellissimo - a Family Affair - Sydney''s beloved Susan Blake as featured cellist; her sister, organist Rosemary Blake; Rosemary's daughter Johanna Blake (Royal College of Music London) & son Harry Wagstaff (Sydney Conservatorium), also cellists. J S Bach organ solos; a Beethoven Cello Sonata & the emotive Popper Requiem with pianist John Martin. Our concert grand piano, historic organ, a kaleidoscope of cello colour (and a rumour of even more cellists!).
26 July: a World of Music: Beethoven .... & Brazil? A popular success in our 2019 series, we again offer in 2020 a program of global sounds & styles: Beethoven in Ireland, Portugal, Russia & Turkey (almost Athens to Aberdeen) for strings & piano; past Principal Harpist of SSO Louise Johnson featured in Celtic, Paraguayan & jazz styles; Latin American flair with flavours shaping to include Andean panpipes, Argentinian tango, Brazilian Bossa Nova & Mexican or Spanish guitars.
20 September: Beethovan Bonn-bons & Blue Danube - Three Hungarians, a Russian & a Brito-Australian unite as Ensemble Europa to continue our Beethovan party with music from his early years in Bonn-on-the Rhine, a piano concerto excerpt from his Vienna years, plus music of his Bonn buddy Romberg, Schubert & Vanhal in Vienna, some Mozart Variations by Beethoven & Strauss Family polkas & waltzes crowned by a famous favourite - The Blue Danube.
22 November: The Galston Young Performers Gala - Our annual series-ending Gala acts locally with an awards concert for Young Performers of global potential - prizewinners from Sydney Eisteddfod & other competitions, Rising Stars from the Sydney Conservatorium & Hills/Hornsby district schools. The Galston Concerts encouraging young talent - piano, organ, strings, harp & mixed ensembles to close our 2020 series as a prelude to 2021!
